Terminus Requiem

George Ayerlis

This diorama was created using the MG Sinanju Stein as the base, customized with parts from MG, RG, and HG kits. The design emphasizes an oversized backpack and heavy weaponry, painted in low-saturation tones with orange accents. Circular details, scratch-built thruster nozzles, and added panel lines enhance mechanical depth, with details integrated into the armor through partial openings. To reinforce the hangar atmosphere, I included two Ball units as engineering machines, a large triangular hangar structure, and multiple levels featuring equipment, a damaged Marasai, and an underground rest zone with murals and a corridor lit by flashing warning lights. For markings, I worked exclusively with official Bandai decals, cutting and combining symbols to create unique insignia; large markings such as the EFF logo and the letter A were made by masking with decals and airbrushing. The hangar was fully scratch-built using MDF boards, acrylic and plastic sheets, wooden supports, and an MG hangar kit, with reflective tape for targeting effects, numerous 1/100 mechanic figures for storytelling, and flickering LEDs for movement and atmosphere. In painting and weathering, the two Balls were heavily aged with orange chipping, not only to emphasize industrial wear but also to highlight their history as former engineering machines, while the Gundam was kept unweathered to convey the presence of a brand-new weapon. The hangar base received restrained weathering to balance realism with the clean feel of a fresh maintenance area. The composition relies on triangular elements, diagonal cuts, and negative space to create contrast, forward motion, and structural clarity, balancing narrative complexity with detailed presentation.
