The Cabin In The Woods

Vasilije

I imagined a story where Freedom Gundam has a friend hiding inside a small cabin in the forest. Justice Gundam finds out and comes to attack. Freedom arrives just in time to protect his friend, and that is when the battle starts. We built the base from a 50 cm by 50 cm board. We shaped the ground and mountains with foam and plaster, then painted them to look like dirt, rocks, and grass. We added trees, and I broke and burnt some to show the damage from the blasts. We also made a small wooden cabin to match the story. For the battle effects, I used cotton painted grey and black to make smoke, with red and orange at the bottom to look like fire. I made craters in the ground and leaned trees away from the explosions so it looks like the forest was hit. I posed Freedom Gundam leaping forward with sabers and guns, and Justice Gundam flying above ready to fire. Together it shows the moment the battle begins. I worked with my dad to cut and glue things, but I explained how I wanted the cabin, the smoke, the broken trees, and the Gundams to be placed. My favorite part was making the damaged trees and smoke, because they make the fight feel real. This diorama is my idea of a Gundam battle that is not just about fighting, but also about protecting a friend.
